The Colorado EFA (“CEFA” “us,” our,” or we”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) applies to the CEFA website, accessible online at, or any other website or Site where this Policy is posted (the “Site”). This Policy contains details regarding the information we collect when you visit our Site, how we (or others on whose behalf the information is collected) may use, process, and share that information, your choices with regard to your information, and other related matters.

This Policy is incorporated into our Terms of Use. Through your use of any Site, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

Except as otherwise expressly set forth below, this Policy is applicable to only information we collect online using our Site. This policy does not apply to any information that you provide offline, whether in person, over the phone, or otherwise. Similarly, this Policy does not apply to information collected by third parties, even if you arrive at the third party’s site through links on our Site.

Personal information we collect and how we use it

CEFA may collect personal information from you when you use our Site. Personal information includes any information that can be used to identify you as an individual, either alone or in combination with other information. We generally collect information in the following ways:

When you contact us

If you contact us thorough our Site, CEFA collects personal information, such as your e-mail address. When you contact us, we will use your contact and other information you choose to provide only in the context of your inquiry or request.

When you comment on a post

When you comment on a news article, blog post, or other page, we will collect the information your provide, and any information requested by the comment feature (e.g. a username and/or email). Your comments will be publically available.

When you sign up for our mailing list

When you sign up for our mailing list, we will collect your email address and name. We will use this information to provide you the mailing list you request and any other information you request.

When you take action or sign up for an event

We may provide features where you can take action, sign a petition, register for an event, or otherwise get involved in the CEFA community. If you use these features, we will collect the information required by the applicable event or type of action. Information requested typically includes your name, email, street address, city, state, and/or zip code.

We use this information to complete your request, determine the names and contact of government representatives and other entities or organizations in your area that you can contact, or other purposes directly relevant to the action you intend to take. Any personal information you provide through the take action form itself may be shared with the person or entity you choose to contact. Do not provide any personal information or other information that you do not wish to share with that person or entity. We may also use this information to contact you about your request, and we may add you to our mailing list.

When you donate

When you donate to CEFA through our Site, we (or a third party service provider) will collect your credit card number, expiration date, your name, address, and other personal information necessary to process this transaction. If you do not provide that information directly to a third party service provider (e.g. PayPal), we will share the information with a third party for payment processing. In either case, payment information provided when you make a donation will only be used to process your transaction, and we reserve the right to use your contact information to add you to our mailing list or contact you about your donation.

If you donate to CEFA on our Site using PayPal, you will be directed to PayPal’s site, where you will enter your payment information and other details.  Please note that you are providing this information directly to PayPal and not to us, and that we do not see or receive any of your credit card information (although non-financial personal information about you and your donation may be sent to us and used in accordance with this section.)

Use of cookies and similar tracking technologies

Our Site may use cookies, web beacons and similar tracking technologies. We use these technologies when necessary (e.g. for session management) and to analyze the traffic to our site. By tracking how and when users browse our Site, we are better able to determine which features and content on our Site are most important to visitors.

Mergers & succession

In the event we are merged with, succeeded by, or incorporated into another non-commercial entity performing the same or similar functions as CEFA, we may transfer to the succeeding entity any personal information we possess. Your information may not be acquired by a for-profit entity as part of a takeover, merger, etc.

Legal disclosures

To the extent permitted by law, we reserve the right to share personal information if we need to protect the interests of CEFA, our property, or the public. Similarly, we may share personal information with foreign or domestic governmental authorities, or otherwise in response to a legal request that we believe requires us to do so. That said, if we deem (in our discretion) that the request is unjustified, unreasonable, or that you don’t deserve to have your personal information shared, we will refuse to share it.

Your choices regarding  the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information

It is possible for you to use our Site without providing any personal information, but you may not be able to take advantage of certain features. Furthermore, you may opt out of email and other communications from us by contacting us at the email or mailing address below. You can unsubscribe from all email newsletters or similar communications by clicking on the unsubscribe link in every email. Please note, if you do not wish for us to provide certain information to one or more of our service providers, we may be unable to complete a transaction you request.

We use reasonable security measures to protect your personal information. We implement and review various physical, procedural and technological safeguards that we believe will keep your personal information secure.

Limitation of liability

By providing us with any personal information you expressly and unconditionally release and hold harmless CEFA, its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, related companies and their respective shareholders, owners, members, directors, officers, employees and agents (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the use and/or misuse of your collected personal information In addition, we cannot be held liable for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the use and/or misuse of your personal information by any third parties who receive your personal information. We make no representations or warranty regarding any third-party’s use, collection or disclosure of your personal information.

Rights of Minors

CEFA is committed to protecting the online privacy of children. This Site is not intended to nor do we knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13 years of age.

In the event a minor (under 18) submits Personal Information on our Site, parents may review, edit, request the deletion, or prevent further collection or use of their minor children's Personal Information.  Parents may also choose to agree to the collection and use of their child’s information, but not allow disclosure of such information to third parties unless it is inherently part of the Site.  Parents may request any of these actions, or make inquiries regarding our privacy practices, by sending an email or letter to us at the address below.

To the extent required by California Law, we permit minors under the age of 18 to request the deletion of any content or information that the minor has posted or made publicly available through our Site. To request that information you have made available on our Site be removed, please send a letter or email to the address below with (i) your name, (ii) a complete description of the content you would like removed, and (iii) the web address(es) of the content you would like removed. Please be aware that our fulfillment of this request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information you have posted on our Site.

International users

We are based in the US, so if you are accessing our Site from outside of the United States, any information provided will be transferred to us or our service providers in the United States. Regardless of where your information is collected or transferred, the information will be treated in accordance with this Policy, except that you must accept any risk of the US government accessing your communications (sorry…)

Changes to this Policy

By using our Site, you consent to the terms of this Policy. We may change this Policy from time to time. We will post the effective date for this and any revised policy. Your continued use of our Site constitutes your acceptance of any revised Policy.
